Synopsis:

In July 1939, the Central University of Venezuela gave Iván Darío Maldonado the title of Doctor of Political Science with the presentation of his thesis Crédito para la producción agrícola. Estructura Jurídica. Formas habituales,(Credit for agricultural production. Legal Structure Usual forms), approved by a jury made up by  Arturo Uslar Pietri, Eduardo López V. and Tito Gutiérrez Alfaro, who recommended the publication. Iván Darío Maldonado dedicated his research to the memory of his father. The theme advocated by the young author, shows his concern, at such an early age, for the affairs of Venezuelan agriculture. At some point in the study he states: “The fact of the enormous backwardness, stagnation and decay compared to earlier times of our Agriculture has been what has led me to write this thesis.” And adds: “I do not intend to obtain absolute conclusions, but it is absolutely true that countries that present a continuous increase in their agricultural production, also achieve constant and uninterrupted progress and culture.
